Our work

Creative Labs

Casa Búho is a space in constant creation. In addition to our permanent programs, we develop cultural experiences that expand the connection between reading, art, and community.

Each new initiative is a different way of approaching stories.

Kamishibai – Storytelling with images

We incorporate Japanese paper theatre (kamishibai) as a reading mediation tool. Through sequential illustrations and oral storytelling, we strengthen comprehension, imagination, and children's active participation in building stories.

Collective publication

We published a book created from creative processes with children and teenagers from the community. This editorial project not only gave voice to their stories, but consolidated the experience of seeing themselves as authors, strengthening their reading and writing self-esteem.

Screen printing workshop

We explored screen printing as a bridge between art and literature. Participants designed and printed phrases, characters, and symbols connected to the books they read, turning the written word into an artistic object.

Big Búhos at FestiArtes

Our teenagers actively participated in the FestiArtes 2025 Festival, presenting scenic and literary proposals. This space reaffirms the transition from readers to mediators and cultural creators within the community.

Stop motion workshop

We integrated technology and narrative through frame-by-frame animation. The stories read were transformed into short films created by the participants themselves, developing creative, technical, and collaborative skills.

Shadow theatre

Through play with light and silhouettes, we explored new ways of telling stories. Shadow theatre allows reinterpreting literary texts through the body, the voice, and collective imagination.

Book restoration with mothers

We held book restoration and care sessions together with mothers, strengthening the sense of co-responsibility and belonging. Caring for books is also a way of caring for memory and the right to read.

These initiatives reflect Casa Búho's capacity to integrate reading, art, technology, and community participation into meaningful processes. Each activity extends the reach of reading mediation and consolidates a living cultural ecosystem.
