It looks like a dinosaur got into Donovan’s house.
At the beginning of the week, dinosaurs got into our house… After an entertaining conversation about these incredible animals that existed millions of years ago, we got down to work and made this fun craft suggested by Trish, our Peace Corps volunteer from the United States.
We are happy because Casa Búho has been invaded by dinosaurs. Trish, whom we consider our art teacher, was inspired and made two really cool decorations — like this T-Rex that greets the children at the entrance and this pterodactyl flying high.
Lily, also a Peace Corps volunteer from the United States, came up with the idea of having an origami class to make a little dinosaur egg, and this is how they turned out:
As every Wednesday, we visited the community of San Isidro and brought them that artistic activity we did last week — the silhouette of a dinosaur against a beautiful sunset. And Sylvie, our volunteer from Solidarite Sud, said goodbye to the children as these are her last days working on our project.
In the afternoon, we continued talking and learning about dinosaurs, and this time we showed a top 10 of the weirdest ones. The children were going crazy over these facts — they couldn’t stop asking questions! Then we got to work on a word search designed by Lily, and guess what? All the words have to do with dinosaurs.

Carlitos, Cesar, and Jorge work together to find the words.
With the ‘Peque Búhos,’ we had a super great time :) We sang, read, and during ‘Creativity Hour,’ we made a dinosaur crest and pretended we were dinosaurs, roaring really loud.
Friday arrived and we all finished our week of work with lots of information about dinosaurs, and we believe we are succeeding in sparking the little ones’ curiosity and desire to learn more. There was a lot of reading, and for our ‘Creativity Hour,’ we made dinosaurs out of toilet paper rolls. The idea was brought to us by Julia, a volunteer from Germany who has been helping us for a few weeks.
We must confess that we are very happy to have the help of all these kind-hearted people who give their time and their ideas to work with us. Thank you so much to all our volunteers!
