We celebrate books every day, but this Friday there was a literary party at Casa Búho. Reading rounds, music, art, and family. It was beautiful to see proud parents watching their little ones read aloud, sing, or express themselves through art. What happiness!
It was an afternoon full of activities.
The reading rounds were led by:
-Alesia with the book “Pato esta sucio” by Satoshi Kitamura.
-Moyzes and Rooney with the book “Cocodrilo va al dentista” by Taro Gomi.
-Valeska and Milenka with the book “What If?” by Anthony Browne.
Music was brought by teacher Juan Jose from the CRISFE foundation. They delighted us with two incredible performances where the group of boys and girls from the vacation workshops gave us a beautiful melody in female voices, and the group “Los Dormilones” set the rhythm with a folk tune.
Trish, our Peace Corps volunteer, worked all week on a cardboard masterpiece. The characters from the little ones’ favorite books are now in large format and full color thanks to her, and we are going to use them every day from now on. The children and parents had a great time taking photos with Willy, Gerald & Piggy, Enrique, the incredible book-eating boy, or Maria and her hat. Thank you for your effort, Trish!
And simultaneously, the group of young artists from Casa Búho gave us a show by drawing ‘live’ their favorite characters from the books they read. Dixon, Cristhian, and Jipson drew incredibly, and not only that — Dixon’s dad got inspired and also started drawing ‘live’ while we all watched in amazement at the talent of all of them.
On the other hand, this week we held a vote for the little ones to choose their favorite book. Two books had very close results, but the winner was: Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems.
It was a super lovely afternoon that we shared with family and friends. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible in honor of BOOKS.
